squad-kit v1 is coming soon

You write the ticket. Your squad does the rest.

squad-kit is a team of AI agents for your software projects. Write a ticket the way you always do. Your squad writes the spec, builds it, tests it, reviews it, and gets it ready to release. You approve the steps that matter.

Works with Jira, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Issues

An example board with seven columns: Tickets, Specs, Implement, Test, Review, Release, and Bugs. A ticket called "Dark mode for the dashboard" moves from column to column as the squad works on it, and a bug report moves from Bugs back to Tickets.

An example board. Each column has a squad member who does the work.

From ticket to release in seven steps

Every step has a squad member who does the work and hands it to the next one. You choose where you want to approve before work moves on.

  1. 01

    Tickets

    AnAnalyst

Picks up the ticket from your tracker, or you write it right in squad-kit. If something is unclear, it asks you before anyone starts.

YouWrite the ticket and answer questions.

  2. 02

    Specs

    SwSpec writer

Turns the ticket into a clear spec in plain language: what changes, why, and how everyone will know it's done.

YouRead the spec, then approve it or comment.

  3. 03

    Implement

    BuBuilder

Builds it step by step, exactly as the spec says. Routine work runs on cheaper AI models, so costs stay low.

Your developersCan follow along or take over any step.

  4. 04

    Test

    TeTester

Checks the work against every item on the spec's done list and shows you what passed and what didn't.

Nothing to doFailed checks go back to the Builder.

  5. 05

    Review

    ReReviewer

Reviews the changes against what the spec asked for, and flags anything that drifted from the plan.

Your developersGive the final approval on the changes.

  6. 06

    Release

    RmRelease manager

Writes the release notes, sets the version number, and lines up everything that's ready to go out.

    YouPress release when you're happy.

  7. 07

    Bugs

    TrTriage

Turns bug reports into new tickets, linked to the release they came from, and the loop starts again.

YouDecide which bugs to fix first.

Built for the whole team, not just developers

Earlier versions of squad-kit were made for developers in the terminal. v1 opens the door to everyone who plans, tracks, and ships software.

Project managers

Run the whole cycle from one board. No terminal, no code.

  • Write tickets, or pull them from Jira
  • Approve specs in plain language
  • See where every ticket is, and why
  • Press release when it's ready

Product owners

Know exactly what will be built before work starts. Every spec is written so you can check it.

Developers

Hand off the routine work. Review changes, step in where it matters, and keep using your own tools.

QA

Every change is tested against its spec, with a clear list of what passed and what didn't.

Team leads

See where work is waiting, what it costs, and what's ready to release, at a glance.

One place to follow every ticket

Open any ticket to see its spec, everything the squad did, and what's waiting for you.

Smart where it counts, cheap everywhere else

squad-kit uses your strongest AI model once per ticket, to plan the work carefully. Everything after that follows the plan on cheaper models. You get careful planning without paying top price for every step.

  • Use the plan you already pay for. Run on your Claude subscription, or bring your own API keys.
  • No surprise bills. Set a budget per ticket and see what every step cost.

Works with the tools you already use

Keep your tracker and your team's tools. squad-kit connects to them instead of replacing them.

Trackers

Tickets come in, and status goes back out.

  • Jira
  • Azure DevOps
  • GitHub Issues

AI models

Pick the provider your company already uses.

  • Claude
  • OpenAI
  • Google Gemini

Coding tools

Developers keep the editor they like.

  • Claude Code
  • Cursor
  • GitHub Copilot
  • Gemini CLI

Questions

Something we didn't cover? Ask on GitHub.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You write tickets, approve specs, and press release in the app. Developers who prefer the terminal can still use squad-kit from there.

Does it replace my developers?

No. The squad takes the routine work. Your developers review the changes, handle the tricky parts, and decide what's good enough to ship.

Which trackers does it work with?

Jira Cloud, Azure DevOps Services, and GitHub Issues. You can also write tickets directly in squad-kit.

What does it cost?

squad-kit is free and open source under the MIT license. You only pay for the AI you use, through your Claude subscription or your own API keys.

Where does my code go?

squad-kit runs on your own machine or server and talks only to the AI provider you choose. Your code is never sent to us.

When can I try v1?

We're building it now. Follow the project on GitHub to hear as soon as it's out. squad-kit 0.12 is available today for developers.
